I did. (12.5 ") loops can be a mirror of that size very demanding. I bought my Meade mirror. This is probably not worth it.

The best mirror is Zerodur, but is very expensive and difficult to work, even though most fans are Pyrex glass mirrors, but it is hard to find.
Fifty years ago it was quite common that people make their own telescopes. Today it has become very rare for commercial telescopes become relatively cheaper. One consequence is that it is difficult parts to find to build its own domain. Unless you are dealing with a strong motivation for learning, and follow the necessary parts, I would not recommend building your own region. As the parts are hard to find, are very expensive, and homemade telescope is much more than a telescope in the civilian cost.
